The First Mill-Mot Giveaway!
I think it’s about time we do our very first giveaway! With 2021’s Release (our 4th release overall), I thought it would be fun to do one! I chose these 7 stickers because I think a few of them are underrated and the others are some of my favorite designs I’ve done to date.
My favorite designs (so far) have been Mischief Makers, V1 Revised, V4, and the Bolt Box decal. Mischief was a really fun one to design and I feel that it is simultaneously modern and nostalgic, I am looking forward to designing different adaptations of it in the future. I really liked the V4 design because of how simple it is. To be perfectly honest, I designed it specifically for my Z and also with Jose’s old Celica in mind as well. It was created and meant to be on a 70’s (or 70’s styled) car! V1 Revised will forever be a favorite of mine. Back in December of 2016 when I decided I wanted to make a sticker for Millennial Motoring, I went to the guy who I knew could design, Austin. I didn’t know my way around Photoshop yet and he taught me the absolute basics, he was still learning about Photoshop at the time too but he taught me what I needed to know to get by. I told him I wanted a Miami Vice theme which is what we went for, at the time we thought it came out amazing, looking back, it wasn’t the greatest but we saw what could be. Moving forward to quarantine of 2020, I decided with all that I had learned about Photoshop, what if I went back and re-did the first Millennial Motoring sticker as a tribute for MM’s 5th Anniversary. V1 Revised is the result of that. I feel like it is a full circle moment for me and that design, I went back and redesigned it without help from Austin and with my own knowledge and style, all while remaining true to the original. It is one of my designs that I am most proud of. The Bolt Box decal is another favorite because of its simplicity, I loved the Speech Bubble that came before it, but I felt I needed something a little cleaner and a little larger. It felt like a natural progression from the Speech Bubble, and I have many ideas for that simple design. I know you’re supposed to think outside the box, but I figured why not try seeing what I can do WITH the box first.
Picking up where we left off with the Bolt Box’s predecessor, the Speech Bubble, let’s talk about the underrated designs I’ve chosen for this giveaway: Green Speech Bubble, Black Palm Tree, and V3. As I mentioned earlier, the Speech Bubble was what came before the Bolt Box as my main logo that you see on YouTube, the shirts, and Instagram. I used the Speech Bubble for two years (2019/2020) and in 2020 I modified it for the 5th anniversary of Millennial Motoring. Even though I never produced #MM5 stickers, I had plenty of designs laying around. With that said, of all the colors I made the Speech Bubble in, I think that the green one is the most underrated of them all. But green is one of my favorite colors, so maybe I’m biased. I’ve found that the Palm Tree decal is either loved or hated and there is no in between, the white version is more popular but I actually like the way the black looks, it’s a very nice silhouette. Lastly, V3, I think this may be the most underrated sticker I’ve put out, mainly because it was so different from everything else I had done at that point. I think it almost seems more at home with Mischief Makers than it does with something like V2 for example. For the background I used a picture I took at Irwindale Speedway in 2018 after the Finals at Formula Drift. For the font I used this sort of shutter blinds style with a more full version for the motto on the bottom right. If you notice in all 4 stickers above I always tag “2015” in the bottom right. I just like the way it looks and I always like to remind myself and all of you how long I’ve been doing this, but I also just really like how the number 2015 looks.
