Film Photos 2017-2020
I have been doing photography for roughly 6.5 years, I do it for fun and it expanded into doing videos as well. Ultimately it is why you are reading this right now. Without photography, I would not have started Millennial Motoring.
Towards the end of 2017 my dad gave me his old Canon Rebel S film SLR from the late 90’s. He was no longer using it and thought I may enjoy playing around with film, he was right. In fall of 2020, a family friend of ours was kind enough to gift me an old Nikon F2 that belonged to his father. I went through it and replaced a few components that were worn and damaged simply because it was a much older camera and it had not been used in 15 or so years. I now have a second film camera, a very different one at that, in my range of cameras that I shoot with.
I didn’t use it too much during my first couple years of having it but as time has gone on I have enjoyed using it more and more. The following pictures are a collection of my favorite film pictures that I have taken so far.
2017
2018
2019
At the start of 2019, I thought that I should be using the film camera more because I had been enjoying using it and seeing the outcome of my pictures. I began bringing it to more and more events and hangouts when I had a roll of film on hand. I think these film photos have even influenced the way I shoot digitally. It’s so rewarding when you get it right!
2020
Despite everything with that went on in 2020, I still managed to get out (safely) and use my cameras
Out of all the film photos I’ve taken so far over these past 4 years, these are my absolute favorites. They all have their stories behind them and they are all great memories. I love shooting on film because you end up with something physical that you can hold. I would never switch 100% to film, but exploring different possibilities with photography is how you become a better photographer. I will continue to try new things when shooting on film (and digital). I can’t wait to see how my 2021 film photos turn out!
Thank you for taking the time to explore my Film Photo dump of 4 years worth of photos. I hope you enjoyed!
