Crew Spotlight: Josh

After I graduated high school, I wanted to pursue a career in the automotive field. At the time, my goal was to own a shop. The plan was simple: get certified in Automotive Technology and get a Business Degree. So I began this journey at College of the Canyons: Canyon Country Campus in the Automotive Technology program. That’s where I met Josh.

The first time we had class together, he was driving an E46 sedan (I can’t recall what model but I think it was a 325i). He soon purchased a Kouki S14 that was slightly modified. He fixed issues he was having with it, learning the ins and outs of that car and started planning what he was going to do with it. After a little time he had made it his own. He was always driving the car in the canyons after the Thursday night SCV Auto meets. He was wild in his bravery and yet perfectly calm and smooth on the controls. Like all my friends who drive hard, their driving style accurately represents their personality.

Josh then bought a 3rd Gen 4Runner 4WD and began doing some light off-roading and camping. His goal was to go overlanding. Shortly thereafter, he sold the S14 after experiencing a myriad of issues. He needed more reliable transportation and the 4Runner was exactly what he needed.

But the 4Runner was not around long, Josh missed the speed. He missed the canyons, he wanted to get back to driving fast, while still having the freedom to explore and go new places. He found himself an MR-2 Spyder for cheap and got back to running the canyons. With the MR-2, he started exploring new roads and diving into his amazing landscape photography.

Unfortunately, this car also ran into severe mechanical issues. For a couple years, he drove a Scion xB and he focused on photography, skating, and hiking.

A little over a month ago, Josh bought a 2014 Lexus IS250. He’s been running the canyons, talking about mods, and I can’t wait to see what he’s got in store with this thing
